Cookie Policy

What we store in your browser, why, and for how long. Two domains: the storefront (theglobalconservatory.com, runs on Shopify) and the portal (portal.theglobalconservatory.com, our own infrastructure). Each has its own cookie footprint.

Plain English summary

What's actually stored

  • The portal sets ONE cookie — a session cookie that keeps you signed in. It expires after 30 days or when you sign out.
  • The storefront uses Shopify's cookies — for cart, checkout, and Shopify's anonymised analytics. We don't add anything on top.
  • No third-party advertising trackers — no Google Ads, Meta Pixel, TikTok, LinkedIn Insight, or similar. Anywhere.
  • You can clear cookies any time via your browser. You'll just need to sign in again.

Cookies on the portal (portal.theglobalconservatory.com)

In plain English

One cookie. The session. Expires in 30 days. That's it.

  • Strictly necessary cookie — we set tgc_portal_session, an HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax JWT containing your role and email. Without it the Platform cannot keep you signed in. We do not require consent for strictly necessary cookies.
  • Duration: 30 days, or shorter if you sign out.
  • No analytics, no tracking pixels, no third-party scripts on the portal. Server-side request logging is anonymised and used for security only (rate-limiting, abuse detection, uptime).

Cookies on the storefront (theglobalconservatory.com)

Shopify's standard cookies for cart and checkout. Their cookie policy applies.

The storefront at theglobalconservatory.com runs on Shopify. Shopify sets cookies that are necessary for the cart, checkout, and Shopify's first-party analytics:

  • _shopify_* — strictly necessary cookies for cart, session, and checkout flow
  • cart_currency, localization — your selected currency and locale
  • _shopify_y, _shopify_s — anonymised, first-party Shopify analytics (no third-party sharing)
  • Cookies set by the Appointo booking widget when you schedule a lesson

Shopify's full cookie policy is at shopify.com/legal/cookies. We have not added third-party advertising trackers (no Google Ads, no Meta Pixel, no TikTok pixel) on top.

Cookies on email links

In plain English

None. Our transactional emails don't track opens or clicks.

Our transactional emails (sign-in codes, booking confirmations, lesson reminders) do not include open-tracking pixels or click-tracking redirects. Links go directly to the destination. We use Resend as our email provider; Resend offers tracking but we have it turned off.

Managing cookies

Clear them in your browser settings. You'll need to sign back in.

You can clear cookies at any time via your browser's settings:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Choose what to clear

After clearing portal cookies you will need to sign in again. Clearing storefront cookies will reset your cart.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

In plain English

We honour Global Privacy Control signals. We don't run ad-tech, so DNT doesn't change much.

We do not engage in cross-context behavioural advertising, so the typical "Do Not Track" header has no behaviour to suppress. We honour Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where applicable — they confirm what we already do (no selling or sharing of personal information for advertising purposes).

Changes

In plain English

We update this if we add new cookies. Material changes get notice on the Platform.

We will update this Cookie Policy if we introduce new cookie categories or sub-processors. Material changes will be announced on the Platform. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
